#1
This is first time i am trying to install crystalbuntu on ATV1 though USB drive which is failing.

Here is the last couple of lines.

Mounting /root/dev/ on /dev/.static/dev failed: No such filre or directory
Mounting /sys on /root/sys failed : No such file or directory

shel prompt and information about entering help for shel commands.

and then only blank screen after few minutes

I have just tried different usb drive of 16gb but not of them work.

I just used crytalhd_win from http://www.stmlabs.com/projects/crystalhd-for-appletv
which created image.img of 33.3MB with congratulations message

is anything I am missing for installation?

They were for a few days but are now back and the error persists. It is acknowledged as a DNS problem in the latest build but remains to be fixed. There was a complex work around posted somewhere but I can no longer find it. The same problem is causing my install to fail too.

That was months ago and shouldn't be an issue now. I actually just installed Crystalbuntu on another ATV1 just two weeks ago. Are you use you're having the same issue?

I'm not installing Crystalbuntu per se but rather trying to boot from a USB stick with the intention of removing the ATV1 hard disk and fan sometime.

Trying to boot with images created from Mac OSX (as detailed in the forums here) and WinXP (using Sam Nazarko's own image and instructions) both fail with the 'resolving svn.stmlabs.com...' error.

Someone posted a link to a Tweet by Sam acknowledging the error and containing a bit.ly reference which led to a fix. I can't find this any more but it is out there somewhere. So far as I can tell there has been no further development effort invested in Crystalbuntu since that erroneous build and there's nowhere to download earlier builds which didn't have the issue.

A Google search reveals many instances of the same problem happening to folk everywhere.
