Movies & TV Shows not getting information
#1
Hi,

I'm new to XBMC and I am trying to set it up on my Windows PC. I am using the latest version. The problem I am having is none of my movies or TV shows have information about them, nor thumbnails (nothing). I couldn't find any posts on the subject.

All my movies and TV Shows are stored on a Synology NAS. I have renamed them per the recommended convention in the wiki. I can see the movies in my library, and i see the "Scanning" popup window. So it looks like my library is being scanned, but nothing. I ran "missing movie scanner" and it reports:

Scanned: 1 Directories 11 Files
Files Found: 0
Missing From Library: 0

So if it found 0 files, what does that mean?

I would like to have the movie information and other features working. So far XBMC looks amazing, just this one little hiccup.

Thanks,
Maritimer

Welcome to the forums,

Sometimes it takes a little learning to get XBMC working but it's really easy and simple,

Have you followed these steps:
http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Add...ia_sources

How are your files stored (including folder structure)?
http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Add...r_settings

Failing that a debug_log (wiki) might tell us something (e.g. if they've been scanned in or not etc)

Chris!

Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply.

I figured it out. I was adding my Synology shares as uPNP devices. But when i used Windows Network (SMB) share, everything started working. I didn't see the Windows share, and thought uPNP would have been the right choice. Oh well. its working great now. Much nicer!!

Thanks again!

FYI the reason upnp isn't used for library is that it doesn't give files static addresses so the library can't store the location of each file as it may change.
