NBC will be streaming all sports and all events live from the London Olympics for folks in the US. Actually I think the BBC is doing the same thing for the UK.
An add-in to enable this within XBMC would be really appreciated. I think NBC is using YouTube technology. They are using it now for the Olympic trials.

If anyone makes any headway on this, or finds hints for someone who is, feel free to update the XBMC Wiki page 2012 Olympics. Just think of it as sort of a scratch pad for info.
You can make easy links to the XBMC wiki using double brackets around words: [[debug log]] = debug log, [[Add-on:YouTube]] = Add-on:YouTube, [[Adding videos to the library]] = Adding videos to the library, [[userdata]] = userdata, etc

FYI, here is the link to the NBC Olympics "Live Extra" page. I watched the swimming finals online tonight and looks like they will be streaming a number of events over the next week or so.

+1 on this request!
The FAQs on the NBC "Live Extra" page are somewhat vague, but it looks like they are requiring a login and/or other sort of authorization to make sure you are a customer of a "correct" cable operator and also with the "correct" tier of service from that provider. Sort of like what ESPN3 does? http://www.nbcolympics.com/liveextra/help/index.html |

I monitored the ios app to get the HLS urls. They are using youtube for all video streaming of ads and live streams.
I discovered several feeds we could use for an app. I am not sure how to authorize and use the HLS streams. I don't know how the header value is generated. I did monitor the transactions and then played the Apple HLS url in XBMC without a problem. Someone would need an authorized way of getting that url. I tried to detail more here. maybe someone else can figure a way to play the youtube ids with proper authorization. http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid...pid1155568 |
