Hiiiii Fellas,
Lil backstory, recently decided to use my old laptop as a dedicated XBMC Media Center for watchin movies and stuff. XBMC is the coolest thing ever made on this planet ... period. But Im having this problem that I can't view 1080p resolution on my LCD Television Samsung 40inch.
BTW Just for clarity sake ... I have installed XBMC using XBMCLive cd ... meaning it boots directly to XBMC. (Im not using XBMC on Windows).
Before I give further detail, I wanna share information about my card ... this is the output from lspci command.
00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile PM965/GM965/GL960 Memory Controller Hub (rev 0c)
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller (primary) (rev 0c)
00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller (secondary) (rev 0c)
The supported resolution I get on my using VGA out on my laptop to LCD Tele is of 1024x768 and if I use 1280x800 (which my laptop lcd does support), half of my screen is not visible on LCD Tele.
Basically, this is what I want ....
1. Only use LCD television screen for viewing purpose using VGA out from laptop (Don't want dual screen setup etc .... Laptop LCD can be off for all I care).
2. Use 1080p or 1360x768 or 1280x960 Resolution on my LCD Television.
Everything else is working great, stereo sound, performance etc.
****Commands used so far****
~$ xrandr -q
Can't open display <= This is what I used to get, for Solution look one my post below..
- There is no xorg.conf file in /etc/X11/ directory.
***********************************
HD resolution setup is the only thing between me and enjoyin complete entertainment that XBMC has to offer.
Im willing to try anything and everything, just lemme know and I'll post output result for viewing purpose. Let this thread help everybody with this problem. Thanks
