Linux IR Remote for XBMC
#1
Hi,
I am a Linux novice who has recently installed XBMC (Live distro over Ubuntu, I believe) and it is working very well. However, I would like to be able to control XMBC on my computer with a remote. Can anyone suggest an out of the box solution I can purchase?

Thank you!

I don't think this is the right place for a thread like this, but check out http://flirc.tv

Yeah, probably more suited for the Hardware section, but anyway... another option might be the VRC-1100. It's very inexpensive and XBMC can recognize many of its buttons out-of-the-box. The others can be assigned to XBMC functions by simply creating a custom keyboard.xml. No need to even use LIRC (which can be finicky) since the remote control is seen by the system as just a USB keypad/keyboard.
