Linux Installing programs in XBMCUbuntu
#1
Hi,
I am very much a novice when it comes to this so please excuse any naive questions!

I have been trying to set up an XBMC media system on an Acer Revo and i've managed to install 11.0 Eden onto the HD. I'm interested in installing programs such as SABNZBD+, Sick Beard and CoutchPotato to work with XBMC but i'm struggling. How do I toggle to the 'command prompt' or the OS desktop where I can install programs? Or is there another way? I tried exiting XBMC but I couldn't get to the desktop.

Any help would be kindly appreciated!

Welcome to the XBMC forums.

  1. Exit XBMC
  2. On the log-in screen, enter your user ID (should be pre-entered), password and select "XBMCbuntu" instead of "XBMC" as the log-in session type
  3. Click log-in button
  4. XBMCbuntu desktop should be displayed
  5. To switch back, log-out of XBMCbuntu
  6. On log-in screen, select "XBMC" as session type and log-in as usual
