Sorry boom123. Was out of town for a while. I didn't have any issues with installing the heat sink. All I did was install the back plate under the mobo and screwed it in tight. Sounds like the heat sink for your build is not making contact with the CPU, perhaps bad thermal paste or not screwed in enough?

For my heat problems I ultimately under clocked P7 to 400mhz using Fusion Tweaker ... and to mention a quiet 40mm case fan to vent the heat.

My only issue right now is with the remote control. Not all of the buttons map to standard MCE functions .... yea running MCE as well for live TV through HD Homerun Prime. I tried to use a Harmony programmed as MCE and it didn't work. Very odd .. evidently the included receiver and remote is not a generic MCE device. Anyway, working on training the Harmony, but may end up taking it back and settling with the purchase of a Rosewill RRC-126.

Unfortunately, the manufacturer refuses to divulge any details of the remote, saying it's proprietary and that they can't understand why someone would want to use a different "remoter". They have no concept of a Logitech Harmony. They insist it's an MCE receiver. I'll keep digging though.

Thanks again Dougie Fresh. Your support level is amazing! I hope the manufacturer will figure out the "remoter" issue ... basically, allow the IR receiver to accept commands from any MCE remote, not just the one they supply. The real kick would be to allow the IR receiver to accept commands from any remote. This way I could reuse a spare multi-device remote and save some $$.

I have done some Googling and it might be worth resurrecting this thread at OpenELEC: http://openelec.tv/forum/103-infared-rem...ble-remote. Hopefully someone can shed some more light. The case in the thread is the German version of the HT-80 which has the same remote"r" as the S197-H80, et. al.

The remote that came with the HT80 case I bought from you is a Keyboard/Mouse USB HID device, not a MCE remote.

It sends keyboard commands, not remote codes.

I'll look again and see what I ended up using with the Harmony software..

Ok, here's what I figured out, using Fedora 16 (a linux distribution).

In the HT80, the remote is using this USB id 1d57:ac01, which the 1d57 means the manufacturer.

1d57 is xenta; see http://usb-ids.gowdy.us/read/UD/1d57

If you look in /sys/class/hidraw you'll see:

The hidraw3 and hidraw2 devices is what we want.

I played around with this:

but was still having issues; I just couldn't get it map correctly..

I did however in the Harmony software use 'Xenta' as the manufacturer, and got farther; several of the buttons do not appear under the keyboard hid, but under the mouse hid.

You can see the raw events under linux by going to the /sys/kernel/debug/hid/

and looking for the 1d57:AC01 identifier. you can see the keypresses by catting the event file in the subdirectory.

I was reading this topic as there is allot of usable information in here. Without the bluray player I can buy these parts for around 370 euro. Which is really nice for a mediacenter with support for hi10p encoded video's and even (maybe) h265 proof.

Did anyone look into the energy consumption for the device? Specifically i'm interested into the average consumption for playing a 1080p movie from the SSD/HDD and the idle consumption.

Ditto ... thank you tdavis! I'll look into a Windows approach for this over the weekend. I'm curious if it is possible to use one of my spare multi-device remotes to map to standard xbmc commands. Otherwise, I'm tempted to take the Linux leap.

Apologies for butting in on this thread, im really curious about the case that OP is using. Is that still available to but and also, is there space in there to fit an i3 with a low profile gt520 graphics card?

It is available through special order unless you want the red which is available on eBay.

The case has no expansion slot so there would be nowhere to but a graphics card.

You also need to use a maximum of a 90W picoPSU (because of the size) or a motherboard with an on-board DC-DC powersupply. Those boards usually only have a 25W x4 slot.
