We're working with the manufacturer on getting an real eHome receiver for these products instead of the proprietary one but it's a long process and it will result in the loss of mouse controls and maybe some additional setup. Since it's an HID receiver (keyboard/mouse) it just works out-of-the-box with the included remote. But, it's difficult for when someone wants to use the Harmony.

Tried Xenta and got nowhere.

I'll try and Programme the Hrmony in learn mode this afternoon. If that works, great, if not I'll need to find a way to replace the IR in the box to something harmony friendly.

After telling the wife should would be over the moon with the new investment, when I produced two remotes she looked at me like she does when one of our kids disappoints her.

Ok, some success with the learn mode. I just need to assign a key to the right mouse click / back command and it should be acceptable for now. It'll need some fine tuning but we're at least only needing one remote to power stuff on.

Back to the remote. I can't get the exit (back/home page) or Menu (notext menu I assume) buttons working which is making life tough, especially the no Exit/Back button.

Does anyone have an idea ? This is on Windows, running Frodo if that matters. I've tried learning mode but still cant get those keys through.

FWIW, no more proprietary IR receivers and remotes for these. It's RC-6 compatible now. Yay!

Can we raise the top lid and the HDD bracket with screw stand-off to make it hold a 3.5" HDD?
3.5" HDD is 25mm thick, while 2.5" HDD is 9mm usually. The difference is 16mm.
Those screw stand-off pillars could be found with computer cases or at a local hardware store.

The hidraw3 and hidraw2 devices is what we want.

I played around with this:

but was still having issues; I just couldn't get it map correctly..

I did however in the Harmony software use 'Xenta' as the manufacturer, and got farther; several of the buttons do not appear under the keyboard hid, but under the mouse hid.

You can see the raw events under linux by going to the /sys/kernel/debug/hid/

and looking for the 1d57:AC01 identifier. you can see the keypresses by catting the event file in the subdirectory.


If you look a little closer it says
"Device mistakenly uses vendor ID 1d57. Actual vendor is Shenzhen Sinote Tech-Electron Co., Ltd."
