I have only great things to say about this remote.
I prefer a keyboard,..but my son can't live without this remote:
Windows 7 Vista XP Media Center MCE PC Remote Control and Infrared Receiver for Home, Premium and Ultimate Edition

and it's only $15.00 now.

also looking for a new keyboard based remote, since my dinovo mini recently died

i would love something in the style of the boxee remote, that means IR remote on the front side and preferably bluetooth keyboard with touchpad on the backside

i found one so far Rii Mini i6, but it has very few IR buttons

I like the HP branded ones, this one especially for button locations:

Very inexpensive yet fully functional remote with good range. Known as the VRC-1100, it is available from various sources on-line. Just about every button either works out-of-the-box or can be easily assigned to perform XBMC duties (the only quirk I've found is that the "i" button can't be reassigned, but it works natively as a RMB). If you're a Linux user, don't let the "Windows" moniker dissuade you -- it works fine (and you don't even need to use LIRC!).
