I've had xbmc on my htpc for ages and love it but i've now brought a ipad 3, jailbroken it and installed xbmc. Right i want to stream my content from my htpc to the ipad xbmc but don't know how to do this, i add videos and click windows network (SMB) and i have workgroup in there so i click that. In there i have my htpc named STEVE-PC, my wireless printer and my laptop network. I click on STEVE-PC and i get asked for username and password and thsi is where i'm lost as i put my htpc homegroup password in and it don't except it. What am i doing wrong.

Is windows sharing set up on the HTPC to share those media folders, and allow guests (or the user/pass you wish to use)?

This i would try if i where you two:
Indiejones, you should try to ping your server. It doesnt sound you are on same network or use same workgroup?
Voyagerxp, create xmbc profile in htpc with full access to shared folders where u have your content in htpc and use that profile to log into from xbmc.

Voyagerxp
The only thing I did originally different to get mine working was on the folders I wanted to share I went into properties/Security... I know I did something in there which made it work but not sure what it was... Sorry!
