After-scrape banner.jpg batch script?
#1
Sorry if I'm in the wrong place, so let me know where I should be if I am.

I need a script that will iterate though all my TV shows and set (build into the cache) the local banner.jpg as the show's "thumb".

I use windows. Because I like how folder.jpg gets displayed as the folder icon in Explorer I always make sure the file is there, with the unfortunate side effect being a squished poster where a banner should be on any new show added (or more likely re-added as I shuffle physical drive locations frequently). Manually setting the image for nearly 500 shows is a pain in the ass, compounded by the need to switch skins as Aeon MQ3 doesn't have the get thumb functionality on TV (though it does for movies, annoying).

If such a script doesn't exist I'd be willing to look a writing it myself if someone could

- Tell me if such functionality would be considered a scraper (doubtful), video or what?

- Point me to where in the scripting documentation a call to set a TV show's thumb to a specific local file can be found

I really wanted to implement this functionality in my XBMC companion application currently in development but it doesn't seem as if there's an easy way to create a new cache object without XBMC actually running.

Sure would be nice if XBMC could distinguish between banner and posters and have both image types at the ready to allow easy view options.

Thanks in advance for any help, just re-added over 400 shows after adding a new drive and altering my storage rules, so without a script I'm in for a load of key presses lol

Wouldn't dvdthumb in advancedsettings.xml solve your problem?
