Mediaportal addon: TsReader status
#1
@margro, I have built an atv2 version based on your master (4'th of july) merged with mainline. This is first time I have used the MP client on atv2. Istarted out with the TSReader option (by mistake) but it failed to play anything. Then I switched to ffmpeg and then my fta channels was working even if the picure had some pixelation. I guess this is the way it is with the ffmpeg option.
I heard some rumor that the TSReader option should now support also the atv2. If this is true it doesn't work for me. See an exract of my log below:
What looks suspicious is the path used in the call to CTsReader::Open. "C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server\timeshiftbuffer\live2-0.ts.tsbuffer" is not a valid path on my tv-server.

Code:

What is the status of the TSReader option for atv2? Is it intended to work?

It should work but you will need to share your timeshift and recordings folders first and upgrade your TVServerXBMC plugin to v1.2.3.115

Check on the newly added TVServerXBMC configuration tab in the TVServer configuration tool if the TVServerXBMC addon detects the created shares. If it does, the XBMC addon should fetch the share names automatically from the backend.
Make sure that you add a valid SMB username/password combo with read access for these shared to the XBMC MediaPortal addon settings.

I upgraded my mediaportal to V1.2.3 and installed your latest plugin and shared my timeshift folder.
And now it works also with the TsReader option!
I experienced some buffering while watching live-tv in windowed mode. In fullscreen it plays perfectly. I guess the buffering occurs due to the limited performance of the atv2. Maybe this can be solved by tuning the software a bit.
Great work! This is really a killer app!

margro does the version of TVServerXBMC plugin on your site work with MP 1.3.0 Alpha? i just updated because i love new stuff basically :-).
And does the version you henke66 have built work with MP 1.3.0 Alpha?

I don't know if my build works with 1.3.0. I think margro could answer that or someone else that have tested it.

I have received the ATV2, jailbreaked it and installed XBMCtverserver plugin newest version, but together wih MP 1.3.0 alpha. I have some success, but not convincing at all. I get at lot of restarts of the box when trying to watch a channel. Succeeded once to watch a channel. Channels was one time in same order as one the server but not now. Is this really working well for some of you?

I must admit I didn't run a lot of live tv on it. Tried it and it seemed to work. Tested some more the other day and I also got some restarts.
Since yesterday I'm running this build: http://xbmc.picmania.org/atv2/2012-07-14...os-arm.deb.
It seems to be running fine.
TheChief79 are doing some pvr-builds. I would recommend using them instead of my build from last week.
You will find the builds here:

I just upgraded to the 7/31 build from the link above and have to say I am impressed. The live tv is there and working but very choppy with OTA HD channels. I'm just glad that it does in fact work! Now to get it dialed in. I checked my XBMC plugin on MP and it is 1.2.1.109 from Prashant. Should I upgrade for smoother playback?

And for those of you that know or have done it recently, where exactly do I update, on the server settings of MP? I set this up about a year and haven't done much except set up the epg and filter the channels I wanted....and restart the server every now and again.

I know a google search would lead me right to it, just thought I'd ask the folks who may have just done it before digging too much..

Thanks!

OK, so I went ahead and upgraded both my server to 1.2.3 (from 1.2.2) and the tvserverxbmc plugin. I replaced the .dll according to teh readme but do not see the option to enable the plugin from the MP config tool. It still works which is a relief but still get pretty choppy playback using both ffmpeg and tsreader (trying both rtsp checked and unchecked in the MP xbmc plugin). ffmpeg seems to be less choppy but still pretty much un watchable. I will wait for further developments before retiring the desktop for the ATV2 for now. NFL season is coming up and I need something reliable to watch it on Wink

Hi,
I'm using MP TVServer 1.3 and Plugin 1.2.3.118 on a XP machine. XBMC Frodo RC3 on a Mac.

I cant get live TV to work in TSReader mode... I've registered a local user on the XP machine and increased the time to wait for the buffer to 20s. I have shared the timeshift folder with full rights...

(ffmpeg works with artifacts...)

Huh? :'(

I'm loosing sleep over this... ;-)

Thanks for any help possible!

Victory! :-)

I found I need to add the domain of my user... (the local user didn't work for some reason... Policies perhaps..)

Entering "DOMAIN;user" in the PVR config in XBMC did the trick!

Now for some sleep...

This domain setting also helped me with a TV-resume-after-standby problem (using MediaPortal server, OpenElec clients). It could never start the stream after waking up after a longer sleep time, e.g. 1 hour.
With the domain name inserted it works now.
Thank you!

Edit: Sorry, did not help.
According to http://openelec.tv/forum/76-network-file...mitstart=0 there is no full solution for this yet.
