I used to have G530, and it can playback all blu-ray files I threw at it. I compared it to the latest i5 (HD2000), AMD (HD6450) and Nvidia (GT430), and the 1080P videos quality were the same.......

I configured Intel iGPU to run XBMC as below-

1. Installed the latest Intel driver- Check your system for the latest updates
2. Installed- Intel Management Engine Interface Driver]Intel Magagement Engine Interface Driver
3. Disabled DXVA2 and everything else in XBMC settings/video/playback
4. Disabled "Use a fullscreen window rather than true fullscreen" in XBMC settings/system/video output
5. Turn off UAC "Disable User Account Control (UAC) in Windows 7"

No reason to disable UAC anymore.

That UAC trick was for one of the earliest Intel motherboards and driver comvbinations. There hasn't been a need to disable it for a long time. And certainly not since the G530 was released.

Disabled "Use a fullscreen window rather than true fullscreen" in XBMC

That sucks.... I like a true full screen.

I don't do that or recommend that at all. I use a true fullscreen on both my 65" 1080 Panasonic Plasma and my 32" 720p Samsung.

There seems there is quite a bit that I seem to do differently than a lot of people on this forum.

I remember that I needed to disable to playback fluently....but with my latest i5, I don't need it....but I disable it because I hate pop-ups.....

Just like you use DSPlayer for bistreaming, and I used July version of pre-eden last year and Windows Patches version this year for bitstreaming HD audio.........different people like different thing........as long as they are happy with the result that is all it matter......

Any of these "Socket 1155 mobo" Micro ATX should work in your selected case, but I preferred Asus and Asrock mobo.....

Personally I would go with the $75 ASrock H77 board, that way you could upgrade to the ivy bridge cpu's later if you wanted too and they are only a little more than the sandy bridge motherboards. If you wanted to save a few dollars the H67 boards would be my next choice.

David

HTPC1: Intel Pentium G620, 4GB RAM, AMD HD6570, Samsung 830 SSD, Silverstone GD05 case.
HTPC2: AMD Athlon II X2 255, 4GB RAM, AMD HD5450, Western Digital HDD, Silverstone ML03 case.
HTPC3: AMD E350, 4GB RAM, AMD HD6310, OCZ Agility 3 SSD, Akasa Crypto case.
Media Server: i3-3220, 8gb RAM, WHS 2011, 8tb capacity, Fractal Design ARC Midi R2 case.

Be careful about those linked choices. Some of them don't have HDMI and would NOT make a good choice for you.

After going over the boards I think I'm going with this one. It looked like the most expandable one for the money.
