I would be surprised if XBMC didn't eventually support both chip families for hardware decoding, but I have no idea about what kind of time table to expect. That Exynos SoC can handle software decoding of some codecs in 720 already (I think the same for some Tegra 3 devices, but I suspect the Exynos has more raw CPU power), but software decoding will kill the battery life of a tablet.

Damn that U2 looks pretty neat. Another 1 or 2 USB's would be awesome though..better sell my rarely used ATV2 while I can! Smile

It's a shame if they won't have a proper linux distribution, the u2 can make a nice desktop machine.
I think Valve should consider porting some games to arm, ubuntu on arm with steam is dam cheap gaming machine. (my deep and sincere apologize to hardcore gamers, my gaming experience starts and ends with PES).

They say that they will provide an Ubunto image for the Odroid-U2 when the card ships

They probably would get Ubuntu up and running with no issues.
The question is would they succeed in providing graphic hardware acceleration under linux ? (and if they plan to).
I've no idea what is required, can they supply drivers binaries directly from arm? or they need to add support in the limadriver ?

there working on x11 drivers with hardware aceleration as we speak, they have an agreement with Samsung and ARM so they have access to the DDK. We should see a nice result and not a reversed engineered one.

Be warned, this is pre pre pre pre pre pre pre alpha code. Every complain about missing fetures or not working on your hardware will be ignored, expect valid PR's with fixes and enhancements.

Another option for control: https://play.google.com/store/search?q=droidmote&c=apps (Not free, but looks really interesting)

Probably the only option to use multi touch Smile

Cheers, Des.

Any news here ?

I noticed there is an exynos test-build for android, but I would prefer a linux-based solution
