Fixing Artist Info

Help!

I am trying to correct some artist info as the Last.FM scraper is picking up the wrong artist. I have created a really basic Artist.nfo file that contains the artist name and link to the artist page on Last.fm with the hope that the scraper will then pick up the artwork and information from that page; for example:

<artist>
<name>Adam & The Ants</name>
</artist>
http://www.last.fm/music/Adam+and+the+Ants

I have put this in the artist folder i.e. the folder that contains that artists music albums.

1) I can't get xbmc to use the details from the reference web page, even if I empty the library and reload it
2) As it takes ages to scan the library, is there a way to remove an individual artist or album so that a re-scan will just scan that artist/album?
3) Can you cancel a scan part way through?
4) As I store my MP3s seperately from FLACs and so may have 2 folders for the same artist, does it matter which folder the artist.nfo file goes in?

OK I've sorted out (1) it looks I only needed the http link, unlike for movies; (3) I found the cancel scan option; and (4) now that I've managed to get the artist.nfo file to work, it doesn't matter which artist folder i pu it in.

So that just leaves the fact that once I have scanned an artist into the library, the only way I seem to be able to rescan an existing artist is to remove and re insert the whole library; surely this can't be right?
