So i see android has been announced. This is what I've been looking for

But one question. What to run it on


What devices out there run android that are capable of streaming films and iso?

At the moment I have a netgear readynas nv+ and stream via ps3. I want to replace the ps3 with a cheap media player. Was thinking of a rasberry pi but after seeing the news thought maybe a android device might be easier to source

The Pivos Xios DS is what the developers used and were sponsored to develop XBMC for Android for so it would be the for sure hardware.

Looks like some people have compiled from source and are testing on various other devices, Mele 1000/2000, Open Elephant etc.

Odroid-X seem to be the most powerfull for now quad core exynos + quad core mali 400, with 6 USB port, etc.

Was thinking of getting a rasberry pi but thought maybe a android box might be better (angry birds) for extra apps. But the price of the pi is very tempting.

Hi guys, Great news on the android port I want an android powered device like an appletv, does anybody have any suggestions for the better ones, I need to get 3 of them for my sons for xmas, I dont want to get rubbish ones So anybody got any good suggestions.

What is the difference between Nano 1, Nano 1 Slim and Nano 1 Slim+?

Nano 1 is slightly larger than Nano 1 Slim.
Nano 1 has only 2 usb ports,supports SD card and has RJ45 port.
Nano 1 Slim had 4 USB ports, supports Micro SD and has no Rj45 port, plus some features like wifi hotpspot and remote control Android phone does not work now (will be supported at a later date)

Nano 1 Slim+ is slimline design (similar size to slim) but has Rj45 and 3 USB ports

So my logic is the Nano 1 Slim+ is the best box :-)

Hope this helps - remember this is early days for XBMC on Android and the boxes above may not turn out to be a wise investment - but if your aim is to play and hack around then go ahead and buy :-D

yeah, for the price, that looks great. However, I hope someone sells it with a casing.

My issue with the Pivos Xios DS, is that a review stated that there is No DTS/DD/DTS-MA/DD-TrueHD passthrough/bitstreaming (Android kernel thing). Does this mean it will not playback videos with DTS? This is the same issue with the Revue + Plex, it doesn't play any DTS movies I throw at it. I hope this isn't the case with all these Android media boxes.

I guess it can at least do a mixdown to stereo.

Looking at davilla's answer http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid...id1148446, we can hope that it will be possible

i can confirm that it at least loads on the sumvision nano slim plus.. couldn't check it out any further because i could only use the direction keys to move around the screen as i couldn't select anything with the air mouse/keyboard that comes with it although it's not that as i even tried with a USB keyboard . I can't remote control it as i use homeline adapters to get network to the bedrooms and they use hardware addressing :/
