Android Hardware

the nano does have ip but for some reason it's not exposed to see. no matter what app i tried to get to see the local ip it just shows as 0.0.0.0 when using the homeline adapters. I have since changed the ip to static (was dhcp) and have managed to get to remote control it via my galaxy S2 by using a mates wireless keyboard and the already mentioned external keyboard helper to set the options from within xbmc. No back button function still though lol which is a pain Smile

it's running sumvisions ICS and i have tested it with 1080(16GB mkv)/720which present stuttering. The interface can slow down at points but im sure that'll all get sorted.

If i use the normal sumvision player they play fine.

Still tbh i wasnt expecting for there not to be issues as the app is sooo young i was just amazed to see it running on android... looking forward to the future and testing Smile

I know the hardware is OK because I can use MX player and play 720p content over wireless no problem. Once the decoding is sorting out to use the hardware properly, this will be a great replacement for the AppleTV. Considering ATV3 has no jailbreak to date,

I had same problems on my HP Touchpad 7/7 nightly until I turned up the volume all the way, close to max.

yeah. touchPad, ICS nightlies, mxPlayer
xbmc takes control of the volume buttons
switch to something else, set the system volume to max
then go back to xbmc.

from my iphone, i copied profiles.xml (home/roaming)
+ advancedSettings.xml (for both)

nfs is not yet supported here ? it said so in the log Sad
for now i changed my pathSubstitutions to SMB

Hi,
Telechips has just uploaded the GPL source code for kernel 3.0.8 and Android 4.0 to the open source section of their website : http://www.cnx-software.com/2012/07/17/t...urce-code/

Will that help the team to support Harware acceleration of CX-01 mini Android TV Box or Zero Devices Z900 ?

http://www.geniatech.com/pa/atv500.asp
http://www.geniatech.com/about-us.asp
http://www.geniatech.com/img/atv-compare.jpg

And they use Amlogic SoC: http://www.amlogic.com/product01.htm

Pivos rebadged model in the USA: http://www.pivosgroup.com/#!vstc0=xios
And Sumvision rebadged model in the UK: http://www.sum-vision.co.uk/productinfo/nano/nano.asp

In the UK best price for the Nano 1 slim+ is ebuyer: http://www.ebuyer.com/388070-sumvision-c...nenanoslim- £77.99 delivered

Other stockists as well - I've bought a Nano 1 Slim+ from 7dayshop on the basis of my research above (bought before I found it at ebuyer cheaper):
http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_...j1fbhc1mh1

They also stock the oldest Nano 1 and the Nano 1 Slim:
http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_...j1fbhc1mh1
http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_...j1fbhc1mh1

What is the difference between Nano 1, Nano 1 Slim and Nano 1 Slim+?

Nano 1 is slightly larger than Nano 1 Slim.
Nano 1 has only 2 usb ports, supports SD card and has RJ45 port.
Nano 1 Slim had 4 USB ports, supports Micro SD and has no Rj45 port, plus some features like wifi hotpspot and remote control Android phone does not work now (will be supported at a later date)

Nano 1 Slim+ is slimline design (similar size to slim) but has Rj45 and 3 USB ports

So my logic is the Nano 1 Slim+ is the best box :-)

The Nano 1 also seems to be available in Germany through: https://www.virtualsat.eu/index.php/prod...ox110.html

Hope this helps - remember this is early days for XBMC on Android and the boxes above may not turn out to be a wise investment - but if your aim is to play and hack around then go ahead and buy :-D

Also remember if your buying in the UK then cashback available (topcashback and quidco) when buying through ebuyer and 7dayshop (approx 2%) to shave a little more off the price.

Developer already mention that even some box look same or have same chip doesn't mean thay are same as pivos xios ds for xbmc port.

Do you have a link for this? I thought I had read everything, but I didn't see a dev stating this.

Yes that's why I made no guarantees - but if you check the detailed specs, watch the videos etc etc you will see the boxes spec and physically are identical - just screen printed differently and will have customized ICS (so in theory interoperability between geniatech/pivos/sumvision boxes above should be possible).

I think the dev is highlighting that many many android 'TV boxes' exist on the market with different SoC's, different levels of RAM etc and you should not assume XBMC will work on anything but what he has tested on (full details not yet released) - they are expecting the community to test and feedback in some more formal way in the future when they have released beta APK's (but NOT using the pre release APK's leaked)..

You can imagine that Pivos is working with the manufacturer to differentiate future products to a greater extent and working with XBMC devs to make a future product a more compelling XBMC platform.

There are other differences. While I have specific knowledge of the XIOS, this applies to many embedded media devices. You need to license codecs, audio AND video. Right now, I know we have licensed DD, various video codecs, and are working on DTS. In fact, h.264/avc, mpeg-2, vc-1, and other codec support all drive up the cost of the individual unit. Look for the MPEG-LA website if you want to understand how many of the codecs in use today are patent/license fee encumbered.

For this reason, my entire personal audio and video collection is encoded in Ogg/Theora. I'm not some militant open source nut, but I AM against companies encumbering technology on a global scale. I don't want some company to say 'The way your files are encoded is owned by us, and legally, only software we bless may play them!' Event for Theora they managed to secure irrevocable royalty free licenses for some of the patents involved. I actually had to go find differently encoded samples for my testing.

The nature of the business means that, of course we have additional products in the pipeline. It takes quite a while to bring something from a CAD drawing to an actual product. We have some new ideas our next-gen android product, and we have some stuff in store for our CURRENT gen product that may alleviate some of the XBMC related concerns/limitations it had right now.

thanks:

There is no released public NDK for GoogleTV. XBMC needs that so until that happens, not a chance unless we get more information on how to adapt the NDK we use to support GTV.

@manvsmachine, normal java based apps yes. xbmc is not a java app, c/c++ with exactly one line of java to satisfy some devices. like we said, this is the real deal here.

One question maybe a stupid one but....
How does those Cortex A8 ARM processors compare to the like Pentium M processor used in old Apple TV or. Atom. I'm talking here about 'RAW power' for example which is or. will be used to do processor intensive stuff like boblight ambilight, real-time transcoding, tvheadend,....
