Fix display output
#1
Hi all

I'm having problems with my media centres, all I have ever built actually, where the display output via hdmi will not be consisten size or resolution depending on how long it has been on for, order of turning tv or mc on etc. I want to leave the mc on to act as a file server but every time I go to watch a movie it needs a boot to sort the display out. This has been happening to me for years across about 7 different hardware configs.

So this is a last ditch attempt to find out if anyone knows of or has a way to constantly force fixed 1080p output, like a blu ray player or ps3 etc would.

Otherwise I will be buying new hardware to have a sesperate file server mc client, which seems silly given they will sit 30cm from eachother!

Thanks all!

On what OS?

What I believe is happening is that when the tv is off for example, there is no monitor detected and output is set to default (vga resolution).
When it is turned back on everything is still in that resolution.

Anyway, there are a few threads around (this one for windows):
