Server link - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6859115022

Most all of the time I build my own machines, however I got this at a good deal hoping to put XBMCbuntu on it and connect my media backups via USB. So I purchased this server, and an LG Bluray burner for it (standard not slimline). The only other thing I was planning on buying was a Logitech universal remote. As the setup sits as described will I have any issues?

Sorry for such a broad question, but the server will be here Tuesday and I am busy with work all week so my XBMC research gets put on the back burner for sys admin related junk. Confused

If this is asking too much just tell me and I will find time to do the research.

Thanks,

Chris

Registered here to express my interest in this.

Just purchased two MX130 on Newegg deal. I have since found little useful information with regard to upgrades, modifications or OS other than Microsoft Windows, (especially compared to the HP Prolient Microserver N40L, whose enthusiast community is not hard to find.)

I hope your set-up has gone well, please do share your experience.

Another bump. Could not refrain from the deal on this machine on slickdeals.
I'm interested mostly as and HTPC (not as a server) - much of this information is posted on the slickdeals thread:
http://slickdeals.net/f/4943940-Fujitsu-...gg?&page=6

After some sleuthing realized - there is no server OS, and no audio.

Dimensions are : W 3.86 IN x D 15.08 IN x H 13.38 IN

post to the online manual is here:

You can upgrade the process to an AMD FX-4100 - which is much faster for $100.
Also there are some threads regarding unlocking the

It can use cheaper memory - no ECC type according to the manual:
DDR3-1066 PC3-8500, DDR3-1333 PC3-10600 or DDR3-1600 PC3- 12800U unbuffered single rank (SR) or dual rank (DR) UDIMM memory modules with or without ECC

The chipset is an AMD 880G and Graphics is ATI Radeon HD 4250 - it's good enough to output 1080p (i think) -but there is no HDMI output obviously.
Cards with HDMI output: Nvidia G210 or newer GT 610.

As a low cost HTPC I'm mostly interested in what I would need to get this hooked up to a HDTV software and hardware wise.
1) It sounds like I could grab a low cost video card such as: -and audio would be sent through the HDMI port to the TV. Correct?
2) Software wise, can I just do Windows XP or 2000 (yes, I've been out of the PC game for a while), and run VLC, IE9, Hulu, etc. If not what "easy" free, or not free alternatives are recommended. Open ELEC, XMBC, etc?
