Is there a tool to automatically download subtitles based on a file name?

Thanks!

Don't know about a tool, but I know a script. If you integrate it into XBMC with a compatible skin (like Confluence, Alaska, Aeon) it'll do it per movie as you play them, it will search based on the movie name in the database and save it.

Look at the OpenSubtitles OSD (script)

I found a tool that seems to work well, opensubdownloader. Seems to match up the movies quite well.

In windows I am using Sublight CMD in a bat file to automatically download all subtitles. Works like a charm for automatic downloading. (sublight.si)

But then, I'm not running Camelot but Babylon. I might have combined that with Opensubtitles_osd if I would have been on Camelot

I use Napiprojekt (get it here). It's a Polish thingie and is mostly used to dl Polish language subtitles, but it has an option in the settings to download English subtitles as well (if it has them in the db). The good parts of it are that you download subtitles from the right-click menu, just right click on the film file, chose "download subtitles" and in a matter of seconds you got a file with subs: named the same as the file and even synchroed to fit with your version's fps.

Media Center Master (http://www.MediaCenterMaster.com) can automatically download subtitles from a primary and fallback source in about 50 different languages. It also has a tool to batch-download all missing subtitles.

Just in case anyone was still wondering, there is now a great subtitle download script available straight through the XBMC. Just browse, download, set it up and you can download subtitles straight from XBMC Smile

Thanks for this update! It gets confusing reading threads and determining what is applicable to the current version.

FileBot works great. Doesn't get any simpler than that. Also got a cmdline interface for fetching subtitles so you can schedule it to fetch missing subs everyday.
