ready build HTPC

Hi all,
Firstly i want to thank everybody involved in the XBMC project, what a great opensource project that it is. I am familiar with it since the glory days of xbox Smile
I want your input to decide if Zotac HD41 its a good case for running openelec. I would rarely play 1080p, 720p is my main target. What most concers me is how silent is that pc, can anybody who has it give me a feedback?
Around the same price is the Shuttle XS35GTV2 - which is fanless and from what i am reading it can do really well with 720p even with 1080p...

waiting for ur comments.

The D525 in the XS35GTV2 is not a good HTPC platform. The GMA3150 graphics will do 720p at best and maybe not all that well. 1080p is a no-go. At $250 for a barebones it's not worth the price either. For $40 you could get a Intel G530-based barebones that'll run circles around it.

thank you for your answer Dougie. Im already thinking of building a custom htpc...so is there any mobo that can u propose for that CPU? My goal is to use a mini ITX board with pico psu and the less fans possible...
openelec will be my OS.

Also, why escro at this theard is using a dedicated GPU? http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?pid...post841972. Isnt't the build-in capable enough?

Beware that no GPU, integrated or discrete, does perfect 24p. There's a thread here about it and over at AVSForum. The integrated GPUs do just fine. Something Intel G503/G620 or A6-3500 based is a much better choice.

You might like these depending on your budget:

You can use either the Fusion stable build or the latest Beta. It looks like there were some recent issues but they're sorted.

Look under Fusion.

I haven't personally tried OpenELEC but there are builds for both Fusion and Intel graphics. I am not sure which is best however.
