Win Margro PVR build 12/06 hangs on EPG
#1
I've been using the Margro PVR build from 12/06 with Media Portal server (1.2.3). Generally works well, with timeshift ok (can go backwards and forwards within the current programme buffer). However, on occasions, when I stop TV playback and go into EPG view (it's set to Timeline), I can navigate to the right hand of the displayed page, then when I navigate right to view the next programmes (which should cause the screen to scroll left) xbmc "hangs" and stops updating the clock and is unresponsive to key presses. In debug mode the debug display on-screen also freezes. Relevant part of the log is pasted below. The error message continues until I force a power-off.

Never seen this before. Seems that your complete render loop fails. I've no idea what is happening there and I can't reproduce it on my HTPC.

@margro - thanks for the reply. Maybe I'll try to force an ATI Catalyst driver update. I'm running Windows 8 evaluation build and perhaps the graphics support is affected.

Totally newbie with xbmc and their pvr builds, but I found out in my cas and that usually when I had crashed / hangs with EPG, it was because of skin ( aeon nox ). When I switched to default or transparency, everything seemed work fine.

Might be worth trying out if you have some other skin, atleast its easy to try Smile

Yeah I agree with Varjis. Sometimes you can see errors like this and its due to the skin. How that works I'm not sure yet but when I ran into a similar issue with Aeon MQ3, I switched back to Confluence and everything worked fine. Since then I've moved NEON and have never had an issue like this.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm using the Confluence skin, haven't tried any others. I think the problem is with the rendering as I'm on Win 8 and the driver support is a bit buggy.
