Software for creating nfo files
#1
Hello

I need to make a nfo file for some of my movies to get the correct info into XBMC.
Either I can do this manually by using notepad or I can try to use one of the nfo creator softwares available.
I have tried out a few but they dont seem to create the correct nfo format according to what is described in the wiki.

Please if any of you have a suggestion of what software to use, speak out :-)

I am using Ember Media Manager which is able to write xbmc-compatible nfo-files and can download info for the movie or tv show and also poster, banner and fanart.
It is worth a try, in my opinion.

Another vote for Ember Media Manager. But instead of the outdated version from http://ember.purplepig.net/ please go to this Ember thread: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid...1&page=395. Search for posts of DanCooper. In his signature he has a link to a newer version (Ember 1.3.0.12). It works quite fine. IMHO the best media manager software.

Just a question. I have used My Movies (not the XBMC addon) but the version on my WHS2011 server. How do I import, or get XBMC to recognize the movies. As far as I understand, you need to add the movies and then select a scraper to scrape the folders. This is where I get confused as I already have scraped using MyMovies (created nfo files).

How do I add movies without using the XBMC scrapers.

You don't need any other software to create .NFOs from your xbmc library. In xbmc, go to settings, videos, library, and export video library. Select separate and say yes, yes, and yes. This will create a .nfo for every video file in xbmc populated with the info and tags from xbmc. These can now be easily edited in a text editor such as notepad. The best part about using this method is that you have a hard copy of the .nfo (and your artwork) with your media so if you wanted to copy a film to another computer with all the same info and artwork from the original computer you can just copy and paste the .nfo and art files along with the video file.
