Alright, I've been playing around with XBMC for the last several months and am loving it, but haven't invested in an HTPC just yet. I've just installed it on my PC (Xperience 2080 Metro is amazing, by the way). However, I'm considering installing XBMC on my new Macbook Pro Retina and buying an Apple TV 3 and just using Airplay mirroring until either the Apple TV 3 gets jailbroken or Frodo gets released with stable versions for Android devices. My question, then, is whether or not Airplay would work with XBMC the way I'm expecting? I've read a lot of posts about it and they seem to say that XBMC is now capable, but I want to be sure that it would be a viable option before I invest in the Apple TV (especially since Mountain Lion OS was just released for Mac, and I'm not sure how that would affect it). Has anyone tried this? Anything I should know in advance?

Anything on the MBP's screen would be airplayable to the ATV3, including XBMC.
