Hi

Have just finished building myself a HTPC and have installed the latest
XBMCbuntu release, everything works fine except there is no sound, not even at the
Menu, main video format is mkv

Is there anyway to fix this issue? Have tried a clean reinstall but didn't work

Htpc specs
Antec isk110
Asrock a75m-ITX
AMD a6-3500 fm1 APu
4gb kingston signature ddr3-1333 ram

Had a similar issue on my Asrock ion 330d which I resolved yesterday by using these settings:

Audio output = HDMI

Speaker configuration = 2.0 (the only I tried)

AC3: deselect

DTS: deselect

Audio output device = custom

Custom audio device = plug:both

Passthrough output device = HDMI

UbuntuXBMC

Source.

hi, just to add that you might want to check your "alsamixer" in a cmd (CNT-ALT-F1) to verify that its working/not muted.

There should be an XBMC Add-On (XBMC Audio Mixer) in which you can adjust the Setting of AlsaMixer from within XBMC. I believe it is installed by default in XBMCbuntu and is located under 'Programs'. If not it is in the official repo.

Make sure that nothing is muted in there.
