Android or Raspberry Pi
#1
I'm looking at getting a small PC for the bedroom to run XBMC on. My plan was to get a Raspberry PI to do this however now XBMC is being released for Android its made me question this decision as I could get an Android mini PC such as this one or the Cyclone Nano which would be more powerful.

Whats everyones opinion on this? Apart from the CPU speed does one have an advantage over the other?

I need to be able to play back 1080p h264 mkv files which also have HD sound tracks on them and I'm not sure if that would cause any problems, I assume either would handle the video and they would just use the legacy audio 5.1 track instead.

Thanks for your help
Richard

Keep in mind that these implementations aren't necessarily ready-for-prime-time. If you're the "bleeding edge" type, that may be fine; but if you have to take SAF into consideration, you may want to go with a more stable implementation if your plan is to put something in place soon.

In terms of the merits of one platform vs. another, use the SEARCH button at the top of the forums and look for existing "Android" or "Raspberry" threads. Here are a few links to get you started with your reading:
