Unable to scan certain shows
#1
Wondering if anyone can shed any light on whats happening with my library, as I just cannot figure it out.

I've got a couple of shows that simply will not scan, at all. They have .tbn files, and fan art, and have been scanned by two different media organisers now (I've tried both MediaCentre Master and Ember).

One is House, which is a fairly popular series I believe. I have loads of fan art in the folder, .tbn files for every season, every episode and .nfo files for every episode. It will not scan into my library; in file mode I can obviously browse and play the files, so the share isn't the problem, but I have 5 or 6 tv shows that despite having meta data present, I cannot add them to my library.

What can I do?

Debug log needed.

I've looked through the logs, and there doesn't really appear to be much useful information in them.

I've enabled debug mode, and browsed my library and tried an update. What else can I do to provide useful logs?

Set content to none, clean if asked. Set content again and scan. If it still fails to enumerate/add the episodes please pastebin the log. Make sure debug logging is enabled.

You've got to turn on debugging in System settings-->Debugging. There's nothing useful in the logs without it.

As mentioned earlier, I have turned on debugging in system:

That is what I get in my log files.

I'll reload everything.

Ok reloading seemed to sort the logging.

Here is my xbmc.log: http://pastebin.com/eF1rRQdR
Here is my xbmc.old.log: http://pastebin.com/fmdbdM8m

My actions performed where:

-Load XBMC.
-Click TV Shows
-Select House - Empty library
-Select Black Books - Empty library
-Select Legend - Empty library
-Select Dexter, Load an episode.

The three shows above are 3 I'm having issues with.

Taking Legend as an example, I have the full metadata in the folder, but XBMC will simply just not add it. I've removed it from the Library, cleaned the library, and readded it to no avail.

Log shows no "readding". Please remove once again and scan for new content afterwards.

As you can see from this log: http://www.xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=6194 lots of the tv shows won't scan, despite them being listed exactly as they are on thetvdb.com.

There are loads of 'DEBUG: VideoInfoScanner: Could not enumerate file'.

I'm going to try the IMDB scraper actually; assuming I can for tv shows..

It's all about your episode naming. Changing the scraper won't help. Please see http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Add...s/TV_shows for more information.

Hmm, I thought that the scraper would look in the folder, and if there are tbn/nfo files present use the information in those files?

Certainly in the case of Black Books, every episode has a tbn and nfo file present:

I must have mis-read that information somewhere.

use something like "s01e01.blabla.avi". all the extra files you´re havin shouldn´t be needed.

Quick note on this topic. I got all tv shows scanned properly with simple .nfo files, but dislike the strict naming requirements. Often you simply don't want to rename files, for example when seeding a torrent.

It would be great if you could 'help' the scanner per tv show. For example, by including an additional tag in your .nfo (which is already tv show/season specific), that indicates the file name format, similar to the advancedsettings.xml.

This would also apply to movie stacking.
