Copy ATV2 library to Mac Mini
#1
Hi, I've been running XBMC on an ATV2 for a couple of years now with all my media stored on a NAS. I've recently bought a Mac Mini and installed XBMC on that, and I want to replicate my ATV2 set up on the Mac. Is there any way of copying the ATV2 database file or something to achieve this quickly?

NB I just want to 'copy' the library, I don't need to set up MySQL or anything like that.

Any help much appreciated.

First thought: copy the library to a local folder on the ATV (from the settings screen), ftp into the ATV from your Mini, then import.

I haven't tried it myself, but it seems like something that could work.

Thanks, yeah I've looked at doing that. I've ftp'd into the ATV2 from the Mac, but I can't work out which files I need to copy and I'm worried that copying the wrong ones will just break my Mac XBMC installation.

I thought about just copying the entire userdata folder but wasn't sure if the ATV data would be compatible with the Mac.

Do you think that would work?

I'm at work so I'm not able to check it using my ATV, but you might want to export is as a single file (exporting your library gives you the choice between multiple and single files), then look for an *.xml-file. Should be pretty close to the root.

Some documentation:

Actually, ity seems the personal folder is actually quite far removed from the root.

Oh, and there's a backup-plugin too. Might be quite useful for you:
