Looking for HTPC to run XBMC
#1
Hi all,

I'm about to replace my Boxee Box and to get a HTPC that could run XBMC.
I have another streamer for my local HD content.
Now I'm looking to extend it to online HD content and live TV over the internet.

My needs:
1 - 720p & 1080p
2 - run XBMC
3 - good heat spread and quiet
4 - remote control
5 - WIFI n draft
6 - NO hard drive is needed - I would like to use 16Gb dok for the operating system and XBMC
7 - No need for optical drive
8 - No need of 3D support
9 - No need for OS
10 - Optical audio SPDIF connector to connect to my reciever
11 - DTS dolby digital and HDMI outputs
12 - budget ~200USD

hope you could help me out with this one.
I'm open to HTPC bundle or parts.

$200 is probably not going to work,....unless you buy all used parts.
Typically I see the mobo, cpu, and case at $200 by themselves.....
Good luck though,..where there's a will, there's a way.

Good luck man. My budget was about $200 also

I had a hard drive so that took the cost off.
You could take about $50 off my total here if you went with a $50 case that already has a power supply. So for about $250 you could have a nice htpc. This thing has quite a bit of power and hardly no noise.

Zotacs are great but that model is over $300 USD

It looks like others are chipping in with their budget solutions.

You're not going to do it with the budget you have in mind. I built my system around an Intel motherboard with Core i3, GTX430(recently upgraded to GTX640), 8GB RAM, a blu ray drive, and an SSD. A build like that is like $500-600 if I recall but it works great. I have a Zotac 41 in my bedroom and am not overly happy with it. I think the performance stinks.
Server: Synology Diskstation 1511+ with 8x WD Red NAS 3TB drives, DSM 5.2
Main HTPC: Home Built i3, 8GB RAM, Corsair 128GB SSD, nVidia 630GTX, Harmony Home Control, Pioneer VSX-53, Panasonic VT30 65" 3D TV, Windows 10, Isengard
Bedroom HTPC: Zotac-ID 41 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD, Rii micro keyboard remote, Samsung HW-E550, Sony 32" Google TV, OpenElec 6.0 beta 4

After wide research I refine my requirements:

I don't intend to play Blu-ray rips or play games on that HTPC.

I just want smooth HD playback quiet and cool HTPC.

My main concern is SPDIF output that is quite rare in barebone bundles.

what do you think is better combo combo: Intel Atom D525 + NVIDIA ION2 or AMD E-450 + AMD Radeon HD 6320?

I would like it to run Win7 x64 on an SSD (32 GB would be enought for Win7 x64 and XBMC and few apps?) and I would like to connect my 2.5" 1TB HDD to it as well.
I have another streamer that holds internal HDD - is it possible to connect it via eSATA to the new HTPC?

I can extend my budget - is there any good barebone bundle that can suit my needs? or I should buy each part individually?

Waiting for your recommendations.

EDIT: I came across this barebone: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6856119070
I would like to add 4 GB DDR3 RAM and 64 GB SSD.
what do you say? good choice?
Thanks

I hate Zotac.

I don't "hate" anything else. Lots of bad experiences and more RMAs with that company than all the others combined.

YMMV.

Your best budget system while maintaining any level of performance is the AMD A6 Fusion APU imo

This is the spec I came with so far:
AMD A6-3500 3x2.1Ghz/2.4Ghz HD6530D FM1
ASRock A75M-ITX FM1 CIR USB3.0 SATAIII UEFI mITX
Any 4GB RAM DDR3 1033
1TB HDD - any recommendations?

I need to find a case - my drawer dimensions are: 14cm (H) x 65cm (W) x 40cm (D)
I want it to be quiet and cool.
I want to connect 2 2.5" HDD - 1 from my old streamer and 1 new for the OS and HD content.

What do you recommend?
