Best value for money HTPC Build or model

Hi, my ER 1401 is playing up.. well it windows blue screened of death once.

Its lasted a year and although I'm hoping it carries on lasting, I am in the market for a new HTPC for another room/backup as I'm ordering a new 2TB for my unraid box anyway.

sooo... my situation is a bit odd. I can afford to spend up to £500 or 600 if its a nice sweet setup w/3D and gaming PC capabilities BUT in all honesty...

i want the budget as cheap as possible. £0-250 would be great. any suggestions? I like artwork and skins to load quick and fluidly which was my only minor problem with the ER1401...

I'm in the UK so any site links please english.

I don't want to really go down the ATV1/ATV2 route over a decent windows box although if its my only choice... I wil end up doing so obv.
Major Props Poofy and Eskro! Check out their sigs for the best help/advice.

I dont think any of the other people wanting to save money have really cared for my build, but it's solid.
You can find a different case that comes with a power supply and save yourself about $50.
The list is without a hdd.

Do have an idea of such a case? Building an inexpensive htpc for family member that'll likely to go in a loft or other small setting where something light weight is ideal. thanks!

If all you need is a computer to run XBMC, I would suggest the Pivos XIOS HD which runs the Ice Cream Sandwich version of Android. In case you didn't know XBMC for Android was announced a few weeks ago, it's still in the beta stages but runs really well, this is the device that the developers used to develop the app on. I haven't used the device myself but the specs look really nice and it's only about 100.

Once I get some money, I was thinking about getting one myself.
