I have purge it anyway and rename the folder as you said, and install xbmc from ubuntu software center.

It seems to work, i will later configure it and tell you.
No news means good news ;-)

this leads me to the suspicion that xbmc does not like overbloated guisettings.xml files. something like that popped up quite a few times over the last years.

I have the same problem to freeze, with the 3.5 no problem but with the 3.6, freeze after 1 or 2 minutes of use.

Xbmc install fresh
AEON NOX-3.5-repository xbmc.org
AEON NOX-3.6-repository passion-xbmc and GIT

No added new addons just use loaded by a skin at install

and in logs no error message.

Im testing but OS W7 it freeze when i try to add a new source on videos 3.5 works great.

post your debug logs, please.

rename the .xbmc folder in /home/Username/
you will get a new one then on next xbmc startup.

how do I do this
is am runnen openelec an have the some problems
also tthe problem that is skips a beat while playing music
this does not happen with any other skin

I'm getting a lot of freezes lately as well. The problem is I'm not sure if it's Openelec or Aeon (I'm on the lastest git from the passion repo).

I've just enabled debugging and I'll keep that on until it freezes again so I can upload logs.
