I still waiting for a jailbreak to buy the ATV3 but I was wondering if using XBMC through air play mirroring with Mountain Lion is good enough?? Can we play 1080p movies smoothly?

Yes.
You can make easy links to the XBMC wiki using double brackets around words: [[debug log]] = debug log, [[Add-on:YouTube]] = Add-on:YouTube, [[Adding videos to the library]] = Adding videos to the library, [[userdata]] = userdata, etc |

Really is this possible over wifi?
Say if my laptop is streaming a movie 1080p dts sound etc.. from my NAS server wirelessly, can my apple tv still airplay the movie? Thanks. |

That depends on the wifi network - laptop connected via ethernet to the NAS then via wifi to the ATV would have a better chance of working smoothly.
