So I was introduced to xbmc and its fantastic, my issues is that i have 1800+ movies in my library. I would say 8-10TB worth of stuff. Various qualities and what not, but I cant fix that later Smile
They are all digital

The first time I just added all my directories and welp it was all bad, only about half my movies came in. And much less of my TV series.
So I dug around and yup my directory structure was bad, so I renamed all my movies. I movied over 40 and had 2 that were bad, so fixed them.

I want to bring all them in at once, or a huge chunk at a time, however....is there some way to know what ones did not work out and not load in the movie section.

I mean were talking about hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of movies here....

40 at a time will take me months!

HELP,
XBMC noobie

Maybe this add-on will help? I've no experience with it though because I didn't start a media server until after I found xbmc Smile

The biggest and most common issue I've seen when people are setting up a collection of movies is naming.

I suggest downloading 'theRenamer' free software that uses the same databases that XBMC uses and most other media centre programs. It's a drag and drop, for both movies and TV series.... and will rename your media to standard in huge batches (if theRenamer can't find it in the db, don't expect XBMC to find it easily) and throw it into a folder of the same name and put a date to it... I expect a collection that you have to be done in an evening.

Let's put aside the TV collection temporarily... (TV series are a bit picky how they're named and the folder structure) and concentrate on making sense of your movie collection. I suggest keeping folders down in size to less than 200 movies... typically 100, so directory listings will be speedy, and scrapes are within a reasonable amount of time.... and you can allocate each folder one at a time and review the library results, looking for dups, or incorrect scrapes etc. It's really no good and wouldn't do your collection justice to just scrape all the drives at the same time... let it work overnight and you're left with a scattered lib that will be too much to straighten out.

Here's some great links..
