Eden plays AAC files, but Latest Git doesn't passtrough
#1
Hi,

I'm having a strange problem with the latest (as of today) git version for the ATV2. Using Eden, playing an AAC encoded MKV file, i get passthrough to the amp via optical and all is good. The latest git, i only get stereo. Both DTS and DD5.1 play correctly on both versions.

Has anyone got any ideas?

Playing the same file, from the Eden log:

12:02:14 T:171659264 NOTICE: Creating audio device with codec id: 86019, channels: 2, sample rate: 48000, pass-through

from the git log:

12:06:22 T:164442112 NOTICE: Creating audio stream (codec id: 86018, channels: 6, sample rate: 48000, no pass-through)

Seems to have a different codec id? Not sure if this is relevant.

Cheers

Silo

Sorry. With the new Audio Engine we are not able to support AAC passthrough on iOS anymore and it doesn't look like it will be added back. There are only a few receivers able to decode AAC and our iOS devs don't have such. That it worked in Eden was most likely an accident in form of "blind" coding. Since the support of such features which are "blind coded" exceeds our capacities we don't do such things anymore.

Fair Enough. I just thought it was strange as my amp doesn't decode AAC as far as I knew, so I thought it was doing some sort of on the fly transcoding.
