How strong of a system would I need to build to handle a Hauppauge Colossus capture card or HD PVR streaming with WinTv extend and use XBMC at the same time. Since the card handles the H.264 encode, I don't think it would need to be a monster, but also do not think the older Celeron laptop I have would be up to the task.
I want to distribute one of my satellite boxes to two other TVs in the house in HD and play it through XBMC. The encoder will have to go on the main source in the living room and my current desktop will not be approved by the wife.
I can't find a device like the HDhomerun that will work with component inputs and be playable in XBMC. Since I need a computer to stream the video, I figured I might as well make it perform double duty.
Any ideas?
