Need help choosing a video card? (Radeon 4800 doesn't work well with XBMC)
#1
My ATI 4800 card is starting to fail me and I think I want to switch to Nvidia (maybe?). It's been a while since I bought this card, so I like to think I can get something way better now.

$100-$175 price range
Need it to carry both 1080p video & Dolby digital audio to my Onkyk receiver via HDMI
3 monitor support might be cool, but not necessarily 'needed'.

I use this computer big time with XBMC and use my Panasonic plasma as a second monitor to use XBMC on.

AMD Athlon II X4 620 Processor 2.60 GHz
6 GBs of Ram
Windows 7 64 bit
Upgraded to 500w fan

Any suggestions? I want zero problems with playing 1080P HD movies. The ATI 4800 isn't always smooth sailing.

I've been looking at this possibly? ATI Radeon 6870? I hear it has great grades on HD video. I'm just worried about its physical size.

Or maybe a 6700 series to save money?

What really sucks about the Radeon 4800 series as well, there's some odd sync issues with XBMC 11 that's exclusive to the card apparently. I have to run not only XBMC 10 so I don't get this sync issues (but get the occasional stutter when there's too much action on the screen), but I have to run also an older display driver for the graphics card because the latest driver doesn't save the overscan on my second display (HDTV) anytime the refresh rate changes (I have XBMC change the refresh rate for 24p video).

The cards below should be great for HTPC....

MSI R6570-MD1G/LP Radeon HD 6570 1GB

EVGA 01G-P3-1430-LR GeForce GT 430 (Fermi) 1GB
>Alienware X51- do it all HTPC
>Simplify XBMC configurations
>HOW-TO Bitstreaming using XBMC
I refused to watch movie without bitstreaming HD audio!
