XBMC updated automatically when i wasnt home and now sound on media will not work. However, my navigation sounds still function fine. When trying to raise the volume of xbmc, it says "passthrough device in use". it never use to say this and all settings and xorg is the same. Any one have the same issue?

i've actually got the opposite with xbmc alpha5 i compile from git today (and on the 3rd) my navigation sounds are either silent or crackly as hell but sound in videos plays fine.
also noticed scrolling through the list of movies is slow as mollassis.

@sej7278:
This is currently worked on heavily. The original effects came from suspend / resume concerning the Audio Device. In order to save power, the device was suspended. When short sounds as menu sounds are played the device had to open first. if it goes slow you don't hear anything, if not you get crackle + sound. @Mike8913: Passthrough means that all the sound is directly forwarded to your Receiver / TV. You have to use your TV/ AVR remote control to +/- volume. |

fritsch - yes i'm getting exactly as you say, slow/nothing, or sound+crackle.
i tried to compile with pulseaudio enabled but got no sound at all then! although its not a suspend issue with me, i get it from a fresh boot on my r3610 too. where can i got to get in touch with the devs or see what's being worked on, certainly doesn't seem to be anything of this forum, please don't say IRC. |

@sej7278:
Audio Suspend issue. The sink itself is suspended :-) I was not referring to system standby. You can check: github.com/xbmc and scroll through the commits. |

you can set an advanced setting 'streamsilence' to 1. Then the audio sink won't be suspended.

For a brief explanation of any AE advanced settings see the second post of that thread or the Wiki under advancedsettings.xml <audio> or AudioEngine. For what's being worked on - top secret But XBMC's github repo and Trac timeline are good indicators.For getting in touch with devs - we lurk at all hours - shine a big bat symbol in the sky! @sej7278 - they should now work with or without that setting enabled - a fix was applied.
The other (more direct) uses/meaning of that setting are described in the resources I mentioned in the previous post. System: XBMC HTPC with HDMI WASAPI & AudioEngine - Denon AVR-3808CI - Denon DVD-5900 Universal Player - Denon DCM-27 CD-Changer - Sony BDP-S580 Blu-Ray - X-Box 360 - Android tablet wireless remote - 7.1 Streem/Axiom/Velodyne Surround System If I have been able to help feel free to add to my reputation +/- below - thanks! |
