Thanks for the information Margro!

I am recommending that everyone use the 24th or 25th Frodo build until the timeshifting stuff is sorted out. It could be a few weeks though, so be prepared for some 'broken' builds (Frodo & add-ons.)
Timeshifting is still a pull request (for both XBMC and the PVR addons), so that is not the reason of the current API change. The timeshift pull request will introduce another API change that requires also a PVR addons rebuild.

Can't wait for Timeshifting to be implemented! Very, very, VERY impressed with PVR support so far; thanks for all the hard work Margro (and opdenkamp!). I've literally just uninstalled WMC... wife is overjoyed Wink

Can confirm that the latest Opdenkamp build (from today) now works fine with Alpha 6 (at least with MediaPortal; under Windows); where previous builds didn't start up. Thanks again for the builds, wileecoyote.

Don't expect too much from the initial timeshift support. It mainly allows the PVR addons to take care of it.
The most important part right now is to get the required functionality ready for inclusion in Frodo. I have only a few days to get it in shape for inclusion within the October merge window. After that merge window Frodo is expected to enter a feature freeze state.
I still need to iron out the current glitches in the MediaPortal pvr addon before it is really usable and stable but that can wait until after inclusion.

I'm not expecting miracles - I know this is a time-consuming process, guess I'm just (over?)-excited that PVR support is finally in the mainline!

Agreed; getting the XBMC-side of the PVR model in place is far more important than the add-ons themselves - not just because of the freeze deadline, but also because this API is the basis for everything PVR-ish, regardless of backend.

And yes, I'll happily deal with the current MP addon glitches (can't add a manual timer, series recording unsupported, etc) until you get the chance to sort it. Just know this: even in it's current state, it's awesome. More than good enough (I've found at least) to chuck Media Center out in favor of an all-XBMC+MP solution; with the MediaPortal client used on occasion to fill in the few gaps (for scheduling/managing series recordings, for example).

Once again: well done, dude.

Does that impact a new PVR addon for NextPVR that should be added to Frodo?

Posted a new build for NPVR for Windows to accommodate new 1.3 API.

Also posted a new RaspBerry Pi build from BrainStormer (note he is still working on getting a 1.3 API compatible build.)

As far as I know, the feature freeze will be for the the main XBMC repository, so as long as the NextPVR addon does not require any PVR API changes I tkink it would be no problem to add it to the xbmc-pvr-addons repository.

pvr add-ons will get a temporary feature freeze too. if anything needs to go in before frodo after the freeze, then you'll need to convince me to press the green button.

I have posted all new builds for the new Oct. 4th update (API 1.4). I have also changed the format of the page to make it a little more user friendly and to accommodate some suggestions I have received from people. This lists are now broken down by OS and Add-on, so you can just download your specific add-on.

I have also posted a new RPi build from BrainStormer for the NPVR.

Note: ForTheRecord is still not building, so I posted the last Windows build in the Misc section.

@dushmanic - I suppose that if the timeshift API will get into mainline that addons still can add missing API functionality like thimeshift support when frozen? Would be a bit pointless otherwise to get timeshift into Frodo but won't have a addon supporting it.

If the addon is in main, wouldn't it be autoupdated when user activate anyway ?

not exactly. but yes, if master gets it, then the add-on will get it too.

I will update the master pull request for timeshift support in the coming weekend (was too busy this week) and directly after that send a pull request to update the PVR addons to the new API and enable timeshifting for both the MediaPortal and ForTheRecord pvr addons.

Could you compile the mythtv addon at https://github.com/fetzerch/xbmc-pvr-addons/? There has been some amazing work on this done but some of us don't have development environments setup to compile. Thanks!

Posted new builds of the opdenkamp github repository which now includes:

NextPVR
VUPlus
MediaPortal
TVHeadend
NJoy
VDR
Demo

I also posted a Windows build of the mythtv add-on from fetzerch's github repository, but could not get it to build on Linux 32 or 64 bit Ubuntu. If anyone has those builds I would be happy to post them.
