Wrong IP and MAC address displayed
#1
Hi,

I have just installed xbmc on Ubuntu 12.04 and have noticed that the wrong ip and mac address are displayed in the system settings. By wrong, they do not (not even remotely) match anything on my system. The installation of xbmc still functions ok and I can connect to it from xbmc commander using the ip address of the machine (not the one displayed in system settings). Any ideas? Have done a few searches on this forum and elsewhere but cannot find anything obvious.

thanks, mal

Do you have multiple network adapters in your machine? Perhaps a wired and a wireless adapter in the same machine.

Yep, I do. Both a wireless and a wired adapter, neither of which match the IP address shown in xbmc.

What happens if you ping the IP address shown on the XBMC "System Info - Network information" page?

Tried a ping and the request times out. Puzzling.
