Raspberry Pi with USB drive - MAC
#1
Hey Guys,

I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of my Raspberry Pi in the next day or so.

I have been reading through the forum picking up some really useful tips!

I have ordered a pre installed with OpenELEC 32GB Sandisk Ultra SD Card (Class 10) from here: http://thepihut.com/products/xbmc-preinstalled-sd-card

Having read through the really useful Raspberry PI lag - can we fix it? thread I'm keen to Install XBMC on Raspberry Pi with USB drive I have read through the instructions here: HOW-TO:Install XBMC on Raspberry Pi with USB drive but if I'm honest I don't know how I would do this from a Macbook Pro or with a pre installed card??

Really hoping you guys can offer some solutions many thanks.

It's very easy to do from a Mac. I'll take a whack at updating the how-to page with mac instructions in a bit if no one beats me to it.

Brilliant I would really appreciate that can't find any info on formatting a drive as EXT4 on a mac? How would the process differ on a pre installed SD card?

Has anyone got any advice as to how to do this all my bits have arrived today and I'm really excited to get going not sure if I will make life harder for myself if I set up without the data stick and then try to do it afterwards?

I did this on my MacBook pro - was actually very, very easy.

I'll help you if you got time a little later? (Maybe PM me?)

Not sure what your time zone is - but currently it's evening here.
