So, my mother decided to watch Breaking Bad today while I am at work. She says that when she opened the show, there was no sound and this X and Speaker Icon just sat in the middle of the screen. I told her to check the audio options. She said it was set at -60 and that the bar to change it was greyed out and thus she couldn't change it.

I have encountered numerous issues in the past and solved them all, but this one is baffling to me. She said she was able to get the sound to come back using her XBMC remote on her iPhone (the official remote app), but the Speaker Icon and the red X remain even though sound is playing. I'll be home in e few hours, and I'm curious how can I fix this?

I think I've solved it. hitting the "+" on the number pad made it go away. phew!
