I haven't been able to find the TDP for this card for running basic HD video.

Anyone recommend if this is a good purchase for an htpc? Building another system and for $19.99 after rebate it's tempting to throw in there. Ill probably have to drill some vents in the side of the inwin case as there is no vents along the entire side of the case where the video card would go. Case has great ventilation above CPU.

The MSI will be fine however not needed as the G540 with the integrated gpu will be enough for htpc purposes. I don't see what you will be gaining other than more heat, more noise and more expense. You could add the $20 to the CPU and get one of the new ivy bridge cpus (G2120).
