Power options no longer affecting XBMC?
#1
I have 2 different PCs connected to TVs in my house. I've started noticing that the PCs no longer turn themselves off even if I've set them to auto-shutdown after 5 hours in Windows Power Options.

Why is this happening? Not exactly eco-friendly.

Is xbmc running? I think the power option is applicable only when the system is idle for more than 5 hours or whatever time you set. So if xbmc or any other application is running, the system won't shut down.

Use the power savings settings in XBMC as well in your OS. As baijuxavior stated above, if you have XBMC running on that PC all the time (even if it's just sitting on the homepage), it will prevent your system from automatically shutting down because it's not idle.
  • System/Settings > System > Power saving
  • Shutdown function timer - set the number of minutes of XBMC idleness before shutdown function (below) takes effect
  • Shutdown function - select Shutdown or Suspend to either power-off your system or put it into sleep mode, respectively
If XBMC is running on your system, this timer will apply. If XBMC isn't running on your system, then your Windows power settings will apply.
