Hello, after building a FreeNAS machine to store all my content I'm now planning to build an HTPC to stream my stuff directly to my TV. I want the HTPC to be able to perfectly play 1080p files with a bitrate of 15-20 mbps. I have some older spare parts that make a full PC but I'm not sure if they will be good enough for a decent HTPC, so I'm asking for your help. It would be awesome to build it for free using the parts I have but I've also planned a new build in case the one I can make with these parts will not do.
This build is the one I've already got parts for:
Motherboard: a decent MSI w/ 775 socket (don't remember which one exactly)
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600
RAM: 2GB DDR2-800
GPU: I have some spare cards (an HD 4350 and a 8600GT), are they ok or I'd better buy a GT210?
PSU: Regular ATX
Cost: 30 Euros if I need a GT210.
And this is the build I've decided on, in case the first build is not ok:
Motherboard: MSI H61M-P31 (I already have it, mistakenly purchased it some time ago)
CPU: Intel Celeron G550
RAM: 2GB DDR3-1333
GPU: Nvidia GT210 1GB w/ passive cooler (ASUS)
PSU: http://www.ebay.com/itm/150896746361 <-- this with a 60W power brick I've got or should I buy a more powerful brick?
Cost: 100 Euros
I will build my own case for the HTPC and I also have spare HDD's.
