XMBC Remote API Problems
#1
Hi, I'm trying to configure an XMBC remote on my Android phone to control XMBC running on my Windows 7 laptop with XMBX 11 (Eden) version. My problem is that the remote cannot open a connection to the laptop.

- Firewall is off
- With Wireshark I can see the requests coming from the remote on port 8080 but the laptop XMBC server does not respond
- I've enabled API on port 8080 with no username/password
- XMBC is set to "Allow programs on other systems to control XMBC" turned on

I can browse to localhost:8080 on the laptop and see the web interface as well -- so I know that *something* is running on that port.

Can anything think of what else to check or configure?

Welcome to the XBMC forums.

Are you able to use a web browser on another computer on your home network to access the web interface of your XBMC laptop via port 8080? Also, in addition to enabling "Allow programs on other systems to control XBMC", be sure "Allow control of XBMC via HTTP" is enabled.

Hi, thanks for replying.

Yes, that's exactly the behaviour I'm seeing .. in fact the wire protocol looks the same from a remote PC as from the Android; I only see the first part of the three-way TCP handshake.
