Internal Blu-Ray Slim Slot Recommendations

I tried searching, and have only found ones people were not happy with:

Optiarc 5600S - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6827118027
Optiarc 5650H - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6827118070

Anyone have suggestions? Thanks.

I've had good luck with the BC-5600S. Read those reviews closely. 1 egg because it didn't come with a cable? It's OEM.

I installed this "Panasonic UJ240" a while ago, and it worked flawless.....

I always have good luck with LG BD-ROM too- LG Electronics BT20N.....
>Alienware X51- do it all HTPC
>Simplify XBMC configurations
>HOW-TO Bitstreaming using XBMC
I refused to watch movie without bitstreaming HD audio!

My recommendation is buy one on eBay. Way less cost. I have an lg that works great. It's a slot load too.

Good call out. Do you know where to get the 5600s? Most retail stores no longer carry them.

I get them off eBay when I see a good sale. I've seen them as low as $29.99 brand new but right now it looks like it's more like $80 new, at least from the USA. There doesn't look to be a good supply available right now though. I am looking for some myself.

BTW, the Panasonic and LG linked above are tray load, not slot load.

Yea, I wonder why so many people are out of them.
Would you trust the ones from Hong Kong?

I do import things from Hong Kong on a regular basis but from vendors I've established a relationship with. I've been looking at that listing and going "hmmmm..." but I want "New" not "Used".

Oh ok, actually here's one for a bit more and it's new: http://www.ebay.com/itm/SONY-BC-5600S-3D...3ccb6aa309

Have you dealt with this seller before?

No, I haven't bought from them. I did message them about a month ago on some other stock they had and they were responsive though unwilling to make a better deal for a bulk purchase. That's my only experience with them so far.

Hm, at least they were responsive. I guess I'll give this a try and keep you posted in regards to product details.

On a side note, have you ever used the 5650H, or any other BluRay slots? If so, how was your experience with them? So hard to find a slot drive for the Realan case, which is the next thing I need to buy from you once you get the new ones in. Smile

I have not tried the others because I had a nice supply of BC-5600S and they've all worked great. But, it seems to have dried up the past few weeks. I am going to keep trying to secure my own supply so I can offer them with the cases since how hard they are to find seems to ebb and flow.

I also asked my contact at Realan if he can recommend a supplier.

My new shipment of E-i5/E-i7 comes in tomorrow and I will have silver ones again! I have black in the E-K3, E-i5 and E-i7 already.

I've been doing some more searching around and these guys are in CA: http://www.laptopdvdrw.com/replacement-s...37938.html. They have quite a few different blu-ray slot load BD-ROM and BD burners. I've never done business with them but it looks interesting.
