Generate thumbnail crash (known?)
#1
Hello,

Yesterday I encountered the crash described here: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=144648

Essentially after updating my library it found a movie I had downloaded off of archive.org, then crashed, subsequently xbmc would crash either on start up or as soon as I tried to open Movies. Modifying guisettings.xml to disable generating the thumbnail fixed the problem.

I searched around here and didn't find the bug, so wondered if it was known to the developers.

It's known, but without sample videos that enable it to be reproduced, there's not a lot we can do to fix it.
Always read the XBMC online-manual, FAQ and search the forum before posting.
Do not e-mail XBMC-Team members directly asking for support. Read/follow the forum rules.
For troubleshooting and bug reporting please make sure you read this first.

Ah, I can help there. In my case the problem video is the mp4 version of Dr. Pyckle and Mr. Pride from Archive.org: http://archive.org/download/Dr_Pyckle_an..._512kb.mp4

http://archive.org/details/Dr_Pyckle_and_Mr_Pride.avi has other formats, I haven't tried those.

I hope this helps.

Edit: Also I don't know if it's relevant, but I renamed mine to "Dr. Pyckle and Mr. Pryde (1925).mp4"
