You have to read deep into the thread to get an understanding of how Trinity seems to behave.

Well without delving too far into that thread - I'm not after benchmarks. What I want is power consumption.

E.g.

A6 5400K (65w)
idle temp
idle wattage
h264 temp
h264 wattage
load temp
load wattage

A10 5700 (65w)
idle temp
idle wattage
h264 temp
h264 wattage
load temp
load wattage

Maybe the same thing for undervolting as well!!

Some Power and Temperature info is shown at the end (A6-5400k).

Hi everybody, can you give me some other tip on M-ITX MB for AMD A6-5400.
I was decided to go with ASROCK A75M-ITX and A6-3500 but it is FM1, and A6-5400 Trinity looks be better choice for same Money but I can’t find ASRock FM2A75 Pro4-M AMD A75 Chipset (Socket FM2 seller in our country.
Thanks

MSI announced this one
http://www.msi.com/product/mb/FM2-A75IA-E53.html
You will have to check with your countries suppliers for expected availability.

BTW MSI seem to have the edge in power efficiency in a number of tests, not this board necessarily, but it may be worth seeking out.

Thanks. The reviewer had 1 SSD, 2 HDDs, external sound card and a 750W PSU (so not exactly a HTPC friendly build). He didn't mention if he used a DVD/Blu-ray drive.

At idle there is hardly any difference, but a load these 65W CPUs can draw an awful lot (reviewer was 114W total system).

He didn't compare a A8/A10 65W. Intel fairs much better at load.

So I think a 160W PICO PSU with A6 (65W), ASRock mATX, ASRock CIR Header, Blu-ray, Blackgold BGT3600 (19.5W), Boot SSD, 1TB 2.5" SATA - will that be enough??

How much PSU do I need for the other parts? Anyone recommend a cheap slim slot load blu-ray SATA drive?

Because he used a very high wattage PSU with a very low wattage CPU. As you can see, the CPU TDP is less 10% of the PSU rated wattage. Unlike Pico PSU, the standard PSU is running more efficiency at 50-70% of the PSU rated max spec.

You should be fine with 160W Pico PSU......unfortunately, the slot load BD-ROM tend to be more expensive than the tray load BD-ROM- Sony Optiarc BC-5650H-01......

The cheapest slim slot-load drive I've been able to find with any regularity is the Sony BC-5600S. If you can find the Samsung TS-TB23 that's also a good one and usually comes with the bezel/eject button if you get it new. eBay and aliexpress.com are the best sources I've found. Most of them come from Hong Kong/Shenzhen.

Admittedly I am using an A8 5500, however, I have two DVD Drives (one is bluray) and if...
I load the CPU to 100% and fiddle about trying get get the two drives to spin up at the same time (spin up uses most power)
I can get the power to flicker to about 150watts.
So if you replaced one of my DVD drives with an SSD and tried not to trigger such a scenario then you should without doubt be ok with a 160watts Pico.
Regards,
Zyoos

BUT I am using an MSI motherboard and they do seem to use a little less power.

Wow, some good news at last.

This must be the PERFECT (none hardcore gaming) HTPC chip.
