Win My First HTPC Build
#1
Well I've been reading a lot of threads lately and been doing as much research as I can. This is what I've come up with as of now.

Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6811154091 $55
Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6813157310 $89
Memory: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6820231423 $17
CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6819116777 $94
HDD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6822136891 $109
Fan: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6835185059 12
Grand Total: $380

I already bought a 64GB Samsung SSD for Windows 7.

This should do all I need(for now). Full library of 400+ HD BR movies, and 2200 episodes. I'd also like it too run some emulators for fun.

EDIT: Switched to Intel i3

This "SilenX EFX-12-15B 120mm" with 15dBA noise level might be silencer than the Scythe case fan with 33dBA noise level.......and the link for your mobo is the same link as your case....
>Alienware X51- do it all HTPC
>Simplify XBMC configurations
>HOW-TO Bitstreaming using XBMC
I refused to watch movie without bitstreaming HD audio!

I was planning on AMD because it seemed like a good value for that GPU. Didn't know that Mobo wasn't compatible with it. this is why I posted here first haha. I'm not seeing any AMD mobo's with HDMI and USB 3 yet, still looking.

OK thanks, looks like I'll be switching to Intel then. Gotta keep the cost down as much as possible. I'll go back an re-read Eskro's threads for a combo.

EDIT: Made appropriate changes to the build.

If you increase your budget slightly, you'll get a better CPU/iGPU- Intel BX80637I33220 Core i3-3220 Processor....

Awesome! I ordered everything so it should be here in roughly 3 days. I'm burning a Windows copy to a disc and gonna try and install it to an SSD I have.

Well the hurricane delayed the case/PSU but I got everything today. I put it all together and I';m currently setting everything up. Windows 7 and XBMC boot SO quickly.
