Linux dual DVB-T support
#1
Hi,

I plan to buy a TerraTec Cinergy T PCIe dual card, but I'm wondering if dual receiver is supported in XBMC (at software level, I mean, as the support for this card exists in kernels >3.3)?

Thanks,
Frédéric

XBMC doesn't directly interface with tuners, but instead uses backend software to handle all of that. I believe most of them for linux do handle multiple tuners.

Ah, ok, I see.

Thanks!

If it's supported in Linux it'll be supported in the TV backend you choose. Both VDR and TVHeadend definitely support multiple tuners. I've used both successfully with dual tuners.

Cool. I'll buy one tomorrow, and give it a try this week-end.

I've been looking at this card http://www.digitaldevices.de/english/Cine_CT.html and are thinking about buying one. Besides that it supports both DVB-C/T it seems very easy to add 2 more tuners if you want to, still only using one PCIe slot. And they claim to have Linux support, and i've seen a post at MythTV about a user using it.

Nice device! But the price is twice of the TerraTec...

And as the DVB-T standard will soon (~3 years) change to DVB-T2 one, I don't want to spend too much money in such card.

Anyway, thank you for pointing.
